If your coffee liqueur is on the sweet side, then add six drops of vanilla bitters to help the balance and complexity. However, with a good coffee liqueur...
I don't know if I should be pleased or disappointed that such a simple recipe worked so well. I tried this with tequila instead of gin as another commenter mentioned here, and while it was essentially a different drink, it was still very good. These simple 2-ingredient recipes are so annoying when you spend ages making a new, 6-ingredient mix that will please your friends just as much as this one will. Oh well.
Wow, I didn't expect much but this is really good, I used Tanqueray and Luxardo Espresso just like a fellow drinker before and it's a perfect pairing.
We get fresh piney, botanical notes from the gin and deep, rich, dark, roasted aroma from the coffee liqueur while the lemon twist gives brightness and an extra layer to the whole composition.
Very easy to drink, highly recommended!
No no no, use tequilla blanco instead of gin and then taste. I just compared the two and I am in no doubt. The coffee liqueur was Galliano Espresso. Does that cocktail exist? What's the name? Brave Succulent or Brave Cactus?
Perhaps aged rum would be better.
