I think there are a lot of ways you could change or improve on this recipe. My first gut reaction was to express and discard a lime peel over the drink which brought out the bright notes in the citrus more. you could also reduce the amount of lime to make the bourbon more pronounced or reduce the simple to make it into more of a sour. Good as is but could definitely be improved on.
With 7.5 ml more of a maraschino, went better for my taste. I added also a drop of Bob's vanilla bitter. I feel like you can play so much with the measures. It's a good base the whole recipe.
Really nice cocktail, well balanced. I went half way between John's recommendation and the listed amount of rich syrup and used 1/3 oz/10 ml rich syrup. Bourbon is prevalent but not overpowering with a good citrus finish.
Great. Put in 1/2 the amount of sugar syrup as we like our cocktails a bit more sour. Cocktail has a great hint of citrus and cherry. Bourbon blends in quite well.
I accidentally made this with 1/2 shot Maraschino, but I was pleased with the result. All other ingredients kept the same, it gave a nice balance to the lime.
