Made this in the past and really enjoyed it. This evening, I only had a 2/3 shot of Tennessee whiskey available and after thrashing around looking for something appropriate to make up the shortfall, I pulled out a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask and thought: “Why not?”
It’s not bad. I might experiment more. (I too cannot discard perfectly good Absinthe.)

Ahhh...This is awesome! Ooops, I grabbed the Regans' Orange bitters when reaching for the Peychaud's, added the Creole bitters also and increased the Drambuie and Jack by half to make up for the extra bitters. 5X☆+♡

please, please, please don't discard the absinthe
pour it into a shot glass and have it as a chaser
anyone seen pouring the Green Fairy away will be shot on sight

Very good aperitif. Like most cocktails of this type, it is a bit sweet, but not overly if you let it breath. Benefits from a long stir.

To my taste: way too sweet. Rather than tossing it, I rescued it by pouring it into a highball glass and topping with soda water + a dash of Regans orange bitters.

This hits all the centres of the taste buds and goes down smoother than I thought. Simon did a great job with this one!
