I didn't find this terribly sweet, but it has a nice velvety mouthfeel, with a lot of vermouth flavor. The rum recedes into the background. Generally a nice easy drink.
I used a fairly low quality gold rum, Dolin and homemade pomegranate syrup and didn’t find it particularly sweet. The vermouth dominated with the pineapple in the background. Certainly easy drinking and went down quickly on a hot night. Maybe could do with some bitters or something (maybe a different garnish?) to add a little bit more dimension.
