Q. Who is the main sponsor?
A. The event's Main Sponsor is Ketel One Vodka, a family-made brand from the Netherlands that deeply cares about pushing cocktail culture forward while positively impacting their communities. Ketel One Vodka is passionate about spotlighting the movers and shakers in the industry that make a positive difference in their communities through the initiative Garnished with Good, and the creator of the 50 Best Bars Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award. Paradiso and Ketel One Vodka are bringing to life their shared vision of cocktails that not only taste good, but also do good.

Q. One of the aims of the Summit, supported by Ketel One, is to upskill unemployed people from Barcelona, but how were these people selected for this opportunity?
A. These people are Learning for Life (L4L) students. L4L is an empowering and engaging program that bridges the gap between disadvantaged people and hospitality employers. It was born in 2008 with the aim of offering quality training in hospitality, promoting the labour insertion of young people with difficulties in accessing a job and promoting the professionalization of the sector. Since then, it has inspired and transformed the lives of more than 146,000 young people, half of them women, in around 40 countries. The program has already enabled 70% of participants to find work, and it has contributed a lot to the further professionalisation of the hospitality industry.

Q. Why is Ketel One Vodka sponsoring the Summit?
A. Of course sustainability (and probably this summit) is first and foremost associated with the environmental aspect. However, as Ketel One is family-made brand, the focus is all about focusing on the social impact, community impact, and bringing people together, connecting them, integrating them in community. Interaction and discussion lead to impactful actions and outcomes.
A. Sustainability is often (unfortunately) not necessarily linked to superior taste / luxury /premiumness so the folk at Ketel One believe in the importance of show/try yourself/and tell is one of the important parts of the live presence importance.

Q. What Garnished with Good cocktails will be available?
A. For the entire week, starting from Thursday the 14th until Wednesday 20th, selected cocktail bars in Barcelona will offer an exclusive Ketel One Garnished with Good cocktail crafted specifically for Paradiso Sustainability Summit 2024. All the Garnished with Good cocktails sold during the Summit will contribute to an initiative designed to create jobs and provide income for those in need around Barcelona, as well as shine a spotlight on them. The Cocktails with Ketel One Vodka will include a bespoke Syrup produced and bottled by local people seeking employment in the hospitality industry but have faced barriers to education and employment in their lives. Those people will be supported by Ketel One, and they will be trained by Paradiso in the advanced techniques needed to make these syrups using ingredients grown by small local producers.

Q. What will be the focus of the Ketel One masterclass?
A. The focus will be on people impact – building communities, upskilling, connecting and giving others opportunities.

Q. How will the Summit benefit the unemployed people making the honey syrups?
A. Beyond learning how to make the syrups and being paid to do so, Paradiso will teach skills important for their opportunities for employment in the bar industry and recently hired three Learning 4 Life students as interns.
