Launched in March 2012, Chanteloup Perspective is blended from Cognac's four main growth areas, or 'crus': Grande and Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Borderies.
Named after the Chanteloup estate in the Borderies' region where Martell ages some of its eaux-de-vie. The warehouse, which sites at the edge of the estate close to Chateau de Chanteloup, is the longest ageing warehouse in Europe at 250 meters long. It is divided into eight sections with the last section, which holds 2,000 barrels of the company's best eaux-de-vie, close to a viewing point overlooking the valley below, hence the name Chanteloup Perspective.
Review and Tasting
Sampled on 04/05/2015
Appearance:
Clear, deep amber with bronze highlights.
Aroma:
Prunes, candied fruit, orchard fruit – mangos and peaches with baked apple, apple blossom and faint nuttiness.
Taste:
Cherry fruit with apricot and baked apple. Charcoal and grilled almond notes dry the palate, countered by vanilla and marzipan.
Aftertaste:
Long, comparatively dry toasty finish.
Overall:
Fruity complex and luxurious, Chanteloup Perspective is the most recent addition to Martel's permanent range.
