Giffard cleverly picked up on the trend for spice in food and drinks to launch this liqueur made with Espelette peppers in July 2020 as an addition to their Premium range.
Espelette peppers, also known as "Red gold of Basque Country", are grown close to the Atlantic Ocean in the shadow of surrounding hills where they benefit from an almost subtropical microclimate. The Espelette pepper is the only French spice with a DPO recognition.
Giffard's Piment d'Espelette liqueur is made from the infusion of fresh whole Espelette peppers. The liqueur's flavour is enhanced with a little dark Rhum Agricole from Martinique.
