Ingredients:
56 oz Fernet Branca liqueur
1 14 oz Strucchi Rosso Vermouth
2 14 oz Thomas Henry Soda Water
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Highball (max 10oz/300ml) glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.
  3. POUR ingredients into ice-filled glass.
  4. EXPRESS lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

AKA: Fernet con Cinzano

History:

In Italy this is called an Americano Branco and it is under this name that it features in Elvezio Grassi's 1936 book Mille Misture. Although an Italian aperitivo, it is perhaps more popular in Argentina, particularly the cantinas and cafés of Buenos Aires where it is called a Ferroviario or sometimes a "Fernet con Cinzano".

Americano Branca (Aperitivo).
Pour into an aperitif glass:
20% Fernet Branca
30% Vermouth Rosso Torino
50% Fresh Seltzer
Serve with lemon peel.

I'm confused. Is this considered to be an aperitivo, or a digestivo, or both?
