Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
3 dried Clove
1 12 oz Rémy Martin V.S.O.P. cognac
34 oz Ginger wine
12 oz Bénédictine D.O.M. liqueur
1 14 oz Claret wine (Bordeaux red)
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
  3. STIR all ingredients with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
  5. EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

Based on cognac and named after one of the three wise men, this cocktail uses three spices – ginger, cloves and saffron (in the Bénédictine) and a good dash of red wine (after all, in later life the baby they visited reputedly turned water into wine).

A Christmas cocktail named after one of the three wise men created in 2011 by yours truly (Simon Difford) at the Cabinet Room, London, England.
