How to make

Serve in a Double old-fashioned

Prepare

Select and pre-chill a DOUBLE OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

Method

STIR all ingredients with ice.
STRAIN into ice-filled glass (preferably over a large cube or chunk of block ice).

Garnish

EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

Adapted from a recipe created by Aggelos Demagos at Unique bar & lounge in Poros Attica, Greece, this was one of ten winning recipes in the 2021 O/Purist Quest.

Aggelos says, "the Canvas for my drink was the encouragement of my company to create a cocktail with O/Purist Tsipouro, combining some of the ingredients I had at home at that time. So, I created White Grape, a tsipouro-based Negroni Bianco."

A beautiful, bright brass color, completely clear (like a White Negroni). Mild earthy nose from the tsipouro and Suze. Nice - if you are a fan of negroni variants you should try this out. I think it is a bit sweet/syrupy, and that the botanicals in the gin of the White Negroni work better with the Suze than does the tsipouro, but it is nice.
