In its second year, the Havana Club Bar Entrepreneur Awards received a fantastic response from talented bar entrepreneurs around the world, with nominations received from three continents, from March to July 2020.
Each nomination was accompanied by answers to a detailed questionnaire that identified entrepreneurial traits and characteristics supported by Cécile Bulle from the Dauphine University in Paris, an independent entrepreneurship expert. Due to her experience and impartiality she was also asked to consider each nomination and select the nominees to progress through to the second round of judging.
The 57 nominees selected were then invited to submit a short video to support their entry and these, along with their completed questionnaires were painstakingly considered by a panel of international judges using a scorecard developed by Cécile.
All scores were collated and compared to ensure fairness and accuracy. While a very difficult task, the scoring system established which nominees scored the highest across the board.
Finally, a 'round table' virtual meeting was held with the judges and the chairs (Simon Difford and Paloma Alos), to ensure the judges had no discrepancies with the results.
The final round of judging will take place in January 2021, when the finalists will be invited to have a virtual 'Meet & Greet' with the judges, who will then decide on the winner of the Bar Entrepreneur Awards.
We are delighted to announce the 13 finalists of the Bar Entrepreneur Awards 2020, in alphabetical order:
