"It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile; be yourself no matter what they say", as Sting puts it in his Englishman In New York song.

He refers to the internal need of standing true to our values, our own music, our tune, our melody. Not bowing to what’s expected, to the norm. Art and Science owe the world to those people who had the courage to go against the flow, defended their particularity, and with their creations or actions broadened up – or even revolutionized – the way we perceive the world.

Tattoos are often a means for such people to celebrate their uniqueness, their authenticity, the magic of being oneself “no matter what they say”. Like Scott Cambell. Like Hennessy, that persists in standing true to its quality and values. Tattoos are often a tribute to that quality. Many of the tattoos on my body tell such a tale.
