This for me is exceptional made with Liquore Strega, Cocchi Americano Bianco, lemon/lime 50/50, and lime zest twist plus a generous dash of Absinthe. Corpse Reviver and a Last word
The lemon/lime split was an interesting idea and in this necessitated by running out of lemon. I did a 50/50 split of Strega and genepy, also Cocchi Americano. Felt like it needed some of the sweetness added back in so 2.5 ml triple sec. Some really interesting flavours coming out. I used to do an “instant icecream “ with orange, lemon and lime juice and rind and fresh cream. Reminds me of that.
This one is my favourite Reviver. I sure hope it works. When I was making 2 drinks at once my wife noticed I had more in mine hen hers. She said I was dead to her ….
I view the Last Word similarity others noted as a feature, not a bug. Yellow chartreuse brings so much more lovely complexity to this drink than the orange liqueur, and really makes this old classic sing.
I didn't have the Absinthe but added a tiny pinch of salt instead and shook this until very chilled. I think a small amount of fino might work equally as well.
Definitely prefer the historical version with triple sec over yellow chartreuse, which makes it rather Last Word-ish. If that was the drink I was after, I’d go straight for the last word.
I really love this cocktail. As Lillet Blanc was a little hard to get here recently, I used Mancino Bianco Ambrato instead and the result is great I think!
