As a Canadian, I've had my fair share of Caesars (Bloody Mary's, with Clamato), but this must be my first with gin. I am pleasantly impressed. I think the sugar is necessary, though I would add more lemon.
Usually, I toss the squeezed wedge into the drink.
This was fantastic. And I would agree with other expressing the sentiment that sugar (syrup) is not necessary for this (at least at this measure). I was in the same boat as Jesse M in that I had all of these ingredients at hand. Trying to clear out my supplies. Not a major deviation on my own recipe for a Bloody Mary, but this was still a winner. (9 Oct 2022, 3:07a)
Yeah, hmm... Made it again right after the first attempt... While the sans-sugar is better, it might need a boost from spice and/or citrus... This is one of them ongoing artistic pursuits haha. Never be perfection.
Just made this given Difford's rating and the fact I happened to have every ingredient luring around...and was pleasantly surprised. Did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did, especially after accidentally adding a bit too much Tabasco (not a spice fan!). Will have to make this again with a meal soon
Hi Jesse. Thanks for bringing to my attention. Indeed, like the Bloody Mary, this cocktail is better 'rolled' rather than shaken. I've amended "How to make" accordingly.
Usually, I toss the squeezed wedge into the drink.
