Made to spec with Espolón Reposado, Del Mague Vida Clásico, Barr Hill Tomcat, Campari, Lustau Rojo (I thought the nutty sherry notes would be a nice complement). Was tasty but a bit “flat”. I added a dash of Fee’s Mole Bitters and that livened it up nicely. This one’s a keeper!

Nice ! But in this style, I'd prefer the Tequila negroni (classic negroni recipe, replace gin by a good tequila)

It's very balanced but it's actually not quite as bitter as I want. Never thought I'd say this about a Negroni riff but I miss the bite from the equal parts Campari. I'll try to increase the Campari next time and see if that does something.

Just realised that adding a dash of Hellfire Tincture could bring out something interesting with the Tequila and Mezcal. I'll try that as well...

A negroni with a smoky edge, nice but I prefer 'The Frank' which is along a similar vein.

Perhaps just my mood but I was struck by a lot of complexity, with several waves of flavours. I subbed in Regal Rogue vermouth and Select. The first outstanding rating I think I've given. Superb.

Hmmmm. The sweet vermouth I had open was Carpano Antica. Maybe too heavy for one to appreciate the Tequila and Mezcal? I will have to try it with a lighter vermouth.

Strong, herbal and smoked. It seems to me a very interesting Negroni variation.

As soon as I tried it, I was pretty sure it was by mine truly. Departing from the classical three equal parts was a bit difficult but elegance comes at a cost, doesn't it?

I MADE this while i was making drinks and wow this is a DRINK. smooth subtled balanced superb. i also made a cynar version - swapping out the campari. not as good as this recipe but still a worthy riff if you're a cynar fan. viva mexico viva la vida loca.

The "smoke" from the tequila/mezcal are a nice way to add some more complexity without adding to the sweetness/bitterness. For my taste, I think I'd prefer this over a classic Negroni.

Very nice! I especially like that it is quick and easy to make. Now the hard question. . . do I have another one tonight?

Nice. Perfect bitter orange with a touch of the mezcal smoke. For some reason the word ‘smooth’ also came to mind!
