Love a Boulevardier, one of my faves along with a Negroni. I would usually drink with Rye Whiskey, or a Rye-heavy bourbon, however I recently tried the latest Archie Rose release - Blasphemy Coffee Whisky (40/20/20 ratio) - and it was absolutely delicious! Can highly recommend drinking both on the rocks or stirred down and served up (sans ice). So much complexity. Yum!
It looks very pretty in a stemmed coupe glass with a twist of orange, but I think it tastes better when served on the rocks. Anyway one of my favourite classics!
For me 30ml of Campari is much too bitter. The perfect combinaison is 50ml of Bourbon 30ml sweet vermouth 15ml campari. And for those Who use Martini please stop. I recently changed my cheap martini for a martini reserva rubino and its definitely not the same drink. Don't hesitate and buy a good vermouth for your boulevardier negroni Manhattan and co
After quite a few "efforts," including side by side, we decided we prefer slightly the 2:1 ratio rather than 1.5:1. Toned down slightly the bitter edge; it's still present but just a wee bit less.
