A Rob Roy taken in the direction of a Bobby Burns. Surprisingly drier and lighter than expected, in a good way. Very approachable and pleasant drinking. Would go very nicely with some Scottish shortbread.
Solid concept. I had the bad idea of trying it out with Drumshanbo Irish whiskey, which really didn't work out, but with the right base I'm sure it would have been quite good. Drumshanbo just has this weird off-note in the mid-palate that comes through just about anything. Shame, because their gin is really nice.
Made as per directions and I really like. May swap out rye for the scotch, understanding this becomes a very different cocktail. But my friends who like black Manhattans, but don’t like scotch, may dig.
Great cocktail. Made with Glenmorangie 10 and Cocchi Storico. I found it well balanced, with all the flavors able to shine through. I would highly recommend sticking with a lighter profile Scotch here, as a more assertive style would dominate and mask the other ingredients.
Formidable balance. An Impressive bouquet, which is in my neck of the woods (palate). I wouldn't discuss substitute ingredients, since it's excellent as is. Definitely on our fall menu with slightly salted & spiced pistachios.
I did something similar I suppose. Used Lucano instead of Ramazotti. Also used 2:1 Monkey Shoulder to Edradour 10. Vermut Lustau for the vermouth. Quite nice.
