I enjoyed this very much, a nicely balanced sipper……….very spiced when eating the crystallised ginger. Yum.

The combination of ginger and chocolate is really nice. Certainly a combination that should be used more often in cocktails.

I tipped the (slightly generous) rinse of maraschino into the drink. It's a very tasty beverage, I was suspicious at the lack of sour but it really doesn't need it. it's very nicely balanced albeit a bit sweeter than I'd usually go for (but see note above that is the likely cause). Now I need to buy more cognac as I made this to use up a bottle.

Did this recipe change? I have no memory of adding maraschino as a wash a few years ago! At any rate, delicious.

The recipe looks to be the same as in my notes when I first added it to Difford's Guide on 26/Apr/16.

What an excellent evening sipper. I would have never thought to put all of these ingredients together, but they blend so perfectly. The cognac adds the base and the rest enhance with their own flavours.

Adds a nice “roundness” to the natural flavors of a quality cognac with subtle notes of ginger. Good evening sipper.

Not bad. I added a couple of drops of chocolate bitters. I served it in an old fashioned glass per the instructions (despite the picture). The cherry note balances the sweetness well. A good sipper- can’t decide if it’s a before or after dinner drink.
