Fantastic, balanced sipper with the proper funk of a classic tiki without being overpowering in spice or pineapple notes. I didn't do the 151 float as others have suggested below as I personally prefer my tikis blended from top to bottom - though I'm sure the float adds a fun opening element if that's your thing. Perfect drink for a summer evening here in Florida - or anywhere, anytime, actually. Have enough of these and you may start to envision palm trees wherever you live!
Made again with all Jamaican rums (but we like rums or rhums with a lot of flavour and just enough funk). It was very nice, but got way better with a small (1/4 oz?) float of Jamaican 151. It went over the top with flavour and punch.
Perhaps my favourite cocktail. First made at the Swizzle Inn the 1930s, but has been adapted by locals from the original recipe. Therefore across the island every family has their own mix with differing quatities or ingredients (for example the Swizzle Inns own recipe calls for triple sec, and some like to include cherry juice).
The only consistent ingredients are the Goslings Black Seal Rum (defines it as a truely Bermudian drink), another light rum (Originally a Barbados rum), and orange and pineapple juices - with most opting for falernum over a basic sugar syrup. The rest is up to the drinkers personal favourites, personally I like Grenadine and cherry juice in mine to add some deeeper colour, and stronger flavours allowing for more Goslings to be added without noticing a change in strength.
Great refreshing drink. On the tiki side, but not sweet. I would call this a sneaky tiki, as you do not realize the amount of alcohol you are drinking. Very, very good.
