Okay, this is how it went. First of all, since I use the Oxo 60 ml measuring cup, I avoid as much as possible 5 ml quantities. So I started with 40 ml vodka, 20 ml Triple Sec, 60 ml apple juice (using Innocent), and 5 ml lemon juice (groan). it was much better, less sweet, but something was missing – too little citrus, I thought. So I went for the full cl lemon juice, and that clinched it. However, I will try it with a small quantity of Calvados, after I get some more apple juice in the house.
Many thanks Kjell. After trying original versus yours, I have adopted your recipe. I've not extended to use Calvados as that would be another cocktail (one I'm also keen to try).
Well! Yes, that would account for the low ratings. I thought it a bit on the sweet side, though, and I will tweak the proportions of Vodka and Triple Sec and maybe up the lemon juice and see where I land. Thanks!
