Lemon juice and bitters add a touch of creole sourness to this riff on the brandy-based classic Japanese Cocktail from Jerry Thomas's Bar Tenders Guide
When I bought Peychaud's bitters I was looking for a cocktail to use it in. I'm not a fan of cognac, but I love orgeat, so I decided to give this one a try. It is simply delicious. My homemade has a little less sugar than the recommended 2:1 and the balance was just perfect. One of my all time favourites!
Great cocktail with a fresh cognac start and ending with a fairly discreet taste of almond. Used only 1 dash Peychaud's bitter. Among best cognac cocktail, I've tried.
The creole bitters really punch through, in this cocktail (for me). I recommend 1 dash instead of 2 because of that or even split the difference with 1.5 dashes (if possible).
I ran out of my usual brandy so made this with Metaxa 7 star instead since I have a lot of it. It worked but probably less lemon would benefit it in my scenario!
