I only had unsweetened cranberry juice so I added 10-15ml of a homemade ginger syrup and increased the falernum about 10ml. I made it twice, once with Cointreau and once with Grand Marnier. In both I substituted gin for vodka because my wife and I prefer gin. I added orange bitters because I was also checking out the Messianic Cocktail recipe and thought it might work for this one as well.

The versions I made were really good and just slightly gingery, perfect for an almost-winter night.

I was looking for something to make on New Year's Eve, and I noticed this cocktail on the home page. I made it, and my wife, who enjoys the regular Cosmo, pronounced it "good," with an inflection indicating the highest level of satisfaction.

This came up on my random selector and my ingredients were slightly lacking…
I used pomegranate instead of cranberry and stem ginger syrup instead of falernum.
I added the sprig of rosemary to the shake with a half twist of orange.
A bit off-piste but went down very nicely!

Hello! Suggestions for an alternate ingredient for the Falernum? It's hard to come by in Tokyo! Thank you

My only advice would be to make your own Falernum. Not something I've ever tried (Bob's Bitters makes ours) but recipes are available online. Also worth seeing if online shops such as TheWhiskyExchange.com ship to Tokyo.

I shall try more falurnum next time, not quite bold enough for me.

I found the citrus - specifically the lime, to be a bit overwhelming. Nice falernum aftertaste.

Made this cocktail for Christmas Eve. Very nice variation of a cosmo. Enjoyed so much had to have another.
