I used Ferrand Dry Curacao and I wouldn't change a thing. It was perfect.

I'd actually say this is like a sweet-ish digestif cocktail. Nice and sweet with the mandarin liqueur I used (in place of the Curaçao). The brandy mostly went missing, though maybe if I sub in some Cognac, it could be better. I did use a sugar rim, since I was worried about how dry it might have been without it.

I think this cocktail needs way more citrus, the first time i tried this with the recipe above and i found the Maraschino too overpowering for my taste, also too much sweetness.
I recently made it again with 25 ml of lemon juice and the result was a very nice, balanced drink, essentially a Sidecar with subtle cherry/almond notes from the Maraschino.

Agreed. Needed more citrus. I've upped to Craddock's proportions with 15ml (1/2oz) lemon juice.

Probably my favorite Gran Marnier-containing cocktail. Just the right amount of that orange punch

Looking at the original Savoy recipe I note Craddock specifies orange curaçao rather than Grand Marnier so I have amended the above recipe accordingly. Obviously, please select your choice of orange liqueur according to personal preference.

A very subtle cocktail and great for after dinner. The Maraschino adds an interesting taste.
