This is a current favorite! Found it when looking for cocktails that call for Falernum, as I bought a big bottle of it a while back. I added slightly more lime juice to the drinks tonight, (unintentionally, but it was too little to keep and too much to throw away). I liked the bit of extra tartness.
Had some dry vermouth lying about. Wanted to use it for something else than Dry Martinis. Found this recipe and I am now totally converted to using dry vermouth for making Prestiges rather than Dry Martinis. It was that good! Mouth puckering sour, warm spicyness and rum-sweetness, perfectly balanced in every sip.
This is quite alright... Used Appleton Estate 8yo, Noilly Prat, and homemade (no. 9) falernum... It's begging for a stronger-flavored/strength rum or maybe a split blend of old rum and a young blazer... (4 Oct 2023, 12:32p)
This was today's choice for lunchtime cocktail. As I started sipping it I thought "am not sure about this one", I though maybe it could have done with a dash of sweetness. Hubby thought the same... but as we both continued sipping it, and it was reaching the end, we both thought it got better, very strange.
