Liked the hint of absinthe. The herbal flavours blend perfectly with the orange. Nice level of sweetness, but I think I would put a bit more gin or vodka next time to make it a bit drier. Perhaps an dash or orange bitters.
Agree that not too sweet but or me the OJ predominates and would benefit from more gin +/- vodka. An excellent cocktail for a warm summer late afternoon on the dock (a Canadian reference!)
Very balanced and delicious cocktail. Next time I will increase the amounts by 50%, it is really small in a coupe glass. The cocktail smells like tangerine, maybe the reason for the name?
"Gin and orange with a hint of absinthe" ? Yes, that sums it up well. It's well balanced. I'd give it a 5-to-6 on the Gentle-Boozy and a 4 on the Sweet-Dry/Sour scales they have on some of the other drinks. Mine was a duller yellow, verging on muddy brownish than the picture. A nice drink if you're an absinthe or gin fan. I'm not, particularly, but I still finished it quite happily.
I've been applying the boozy and sweet to dry scales as I gradually work my way through all the cocktails I've not made in recent years. Your comment spurred me to tackle the Yokohama and I've tweaked the recipe to make it drier and less absinthe forward. Many thanks for your feedback.
