Very nice. I often pull back the amount of syrup (or, if one ingredient lends sweetness, skip it entirely) as my tastes seem to run a bit dryer than Simon's (though I do appreciate the balancing effect of the sweetener more than I used to, thanks in large part to this site), but I'm glad I kept it in for this drink. This is nice! Mezcal is balanced. Just enough sweetness and citrus coming through. Like Giulio mentioned, this is an interesting alternative to a margarita; maybe if you don't have triple sec on hand? Nice option, though!
This is nice, but you must like the smoky taste of mezcal. Not a fan of smoky, it was OK. However, I did find the cocktail very balanced and flavourful. Just be prepared for the smoky which, due to my autism, is not a pleasant flavour, but most who like mezcal will like this.
I have to still try this exact recipe, but I recently made a version of this (albeit with only lime juice and minus the mezcal) and I think I prefer it to the Margarita. I will have to do a side-by-side to confirm this suspicion though.
