History

Adapted from a recipe created in 2017 by Griffin Cox at Lot Six in Halifax, Canada.

Hailed as a venerable French bitter, the story of Suze veritably began to the west in Switzerland before it was brought across the border by Fernand Moureaux in 1885. The Swiss Account pays homage to that beginning and shows how Suze finds its home alongside other French spirits just as it found its home in French palates over a century ago.

Griffin Cox, 2017

45ml Grey Goose Vodka, 15ml Suze, 5ml Bénédictine and 2 dash Bittermens Hopped Grapefruit Bitters.

Original recipe by Griffin Cox, 2017

Review

A vodka charged bittersweet aperitif with herbal notes laced with grainy vodka.

I found two dashes of grapefruit bitters to be too acerbic. Hard to say what one dash would have been, but I suspect maybe better

Agreed. I've reduced to 6 drops of hopped grapefruit bitters.

Found it rather sweet so tried gin instead of vodka. Not a great improvement. Might try chucking in some lemon juice at the risk of making a completely different drink.
