As with mobiles and computers, it is hard to imagine life without the cashpoint, and yet it wasn’t so long ago that they weren’t around at all.
The world's first ATM (automatic teller machine) arrived at Barclays Bank in Enfield, London, on this day in 1967. Japan, Sweden and the US had been working on a similar system, and a deposit machine called the Bankograph had debuted in the US, but the Brits were first with the cashpoint.
Today we're saying Happy Birthday to the cashpoint with a Million Dollar Cocktail.
