Serve in a Coupe glass

Ingredients:
5 fresh Raspberries
1 12 oz Irish whiskey
1 oz Strucchi Dry Vermouth
0.42 oz Raspberry (framboise) sugar syrup
16 oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
124 oz Green Chartreuse (or alternative herbal liqueur)
1 dash La Fée Parisienne absinthe
× 1 1 serving

How to make:

  1. Select and pre-chill a Coupe glass.
  2. Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist (discarded) & skewered raspberry.
  3. MUDDLE raspberries in base of shaker.
  4. Add other ingredients.
  5. SHAKE with ice.
  6. FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

History:

Adapted from a recipe created by bartender Takumi Watanabe. Takumi's original recipe doesn't use fresh raspberries, instead, he uses 15ml homemade raspberry syrup (made with 200ml fresh raspberry juice and 150ml sugar).

Alcohol content:

  • 1.3 standard drinks
  • 19% alc./vol. (19° proof)
  • 17.9 grams of pure alcohol

I made the Takumi Watanabe version with fresh raspberry syrup. It is superb: light and fruity, but with lots of complexity. The whiskey and vermouth integrate well with the fruit juices to give a really interesting fresh drink.
