Serve in a Martini glass

Ingredients:
5 fresh	Kumquats (chopped)
1 ¹⁄₂ fl oz	Nonino Il Moscato Grappa Monovitigno
1 ¹⁄₄ fl oz	Elderflower liqueur
¹⁄₄ fl oz	Sugar syrup 'rich' (2 sugar to 1 water, 65.0°Brix)
¹⁄₄ fl oz	Merlot red wine

Prepare:

Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
Prepare garnish of orange zest twist and skewered white grape.

How to make:

MUDDLE kumquats in base of shaker.
Add next 3 ingredients and SHAKE with ice.
FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
Carefully FLOAT wine.

Garnish:

EXPRESS orange zest twist over cocktail and discard.
Garnish with skewered grape.

Absolutely outstanding. One of the most elegant cocktails I’ve ever made. Cut the syrup to 5 ml, used grenadine, and upped the wine a bit. Used 3.0 Morbida as grappa since that’s what I had on hand.

This was very good. Didn't have any kumquats so we used the juice of 1/2 a ruby grapefruit with a little of the diced zest to muddle. Did use 1/2 the amount of sugar syrup. It was a little on the sweet side, but a very good before dinner drink.
