History:

Finnish Bacardí Legacy 2018 winning cocktail by Henri Halonen at Goldfish in Helsinki, Finland.

Herencia is Spanish for 'tradition' or 'legacy' and this cocktail represents who I am, where I have come from and where I am going.

"My childhood was very rough; I came from a poor family and ended up on the streets with the wrong crowd, going down the path of drugs and crime. After a long road, saying goodbye to the streets and my old lifestyle, I found salvation in bartending and began chasing my dream to become one of the best. Like my drink, life is a mix of bitter, sweet and a solid base that makes you the person you are. You are your legacy, wherever in the future you may stand. Bartending literally saved my life; that is what Herencia is all about.

I made this with what I had and, I must say, it's quite a nice drink... El Dorado 8 (Bacardi), Amontillado (Fino), Angostura Cocoa Bitters... My cinnamon syrup is 2:1 ratio, made with cane sugar. (6 Jan 2024, 8:23a)

The category that Bacardi 8 Year Rum is in is ambiguous. As far as the "You Can Make" goes, it's a Bacardi Ocho Anos, but when you look at the actual spirit page for this bottle, it's in the category of Caribbean blended rum aged 6-10 years. Is this because this recipe calls specifically for an 8 year rum or should these categories be merged?

This is a Bacardi Legacy cocktail and so I had to create a category specifically for Bacardi rums in such cocktails. Hence the anomaly.
