Smooth and sweet, but I also find it better without the simple syrup.

Possible I guess but not something I've heard of or encountered and I've opened a lot of bottles of Cherry Heering over the past 20+ years.

The mixtures of tastes in this drink is great. With the cherry and the cognac. Smooth and relaxing after a long day. Highly recommend.
