Only had Hamilton 86 and Rhum J.M VSOP, so I tried it with each. The latter was prominent, but the drink was still good. With the former, wow, it was like fruit punch - delicious. That take will go into my rotation. Love this recipe.
Today I stayed to the original recipe from Satans Whiskers, but switched Campari for Amaro Nonino, really a discovery! Don't omit the flamed orange zest twist.
Ingredients Serving: 1
Heavy 1 1/4 ounces lightly aged rum, preferably Havana Club 3 Year Heavy 1/4 ounce Campari
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1 dash passion fruit syrup
Garnish: flamed orange twist (optional)
Lovely Drink. I used Don Q Reserva 7, a great Rum for this drink.
Why is it called Dry Daiquiri? One would expect a something dry like a martini. This drink is rather like a small jungle bird trying to fly. Let's call it Fly Daiquri.
We suspect it's called "Dry" because of the contribution of the red bitter liqueur (which strikes us as a very unusual - but welcome - addition to a Daiquiri), and possibly also because of the inclusion of bitters.
Great, refreshing daiquiri. Nicely dry and the hint of passion fruit adds an interesting touch. Did use the Diffords Daiquiri Bitters which adds a nice finishing touch.
Made a couple of these with Havana Club a few nights ago; one of the nicest daiquiris I've ever had. Especially with your daiquiri bitters; not sure if it's worth specifying them as optional extra here (some cocktails seem to mention them, some not).
