Used 1/2 and 1/2 gin and oude genever in place of the vodka. Absolutely exceptional.

Many thanks, Avery. I've added a new Chocolate Martini based on your recipe. Please see the 'variant' link above.

Hi all,
Great drink. May i kindly ask if someone know where i can get this kind of coupete glass? Or what is the name? Also Simon, the coupete that is shown on your espresso martini main picture. I love the glass, but could not find it anywhere. Name of company i can get it from in UK. Many thanks

I have collected some 1000 glasses over the last 25 years but stupidly I only started recording the name of glasses used for each cocktail recently and then only with new glasses. (You'll see "Photographed in" under those images.) Hence, I'm now not sure where most glasses came from. And sadly I've also broken glasses over the years. That said, I think the Chocolate Martini glass is an LSA glass and I bought the cut-galss Martini used for the Espresso Martini from Selfridges in London some 10 years ago.

I did a gin version of this using Lillet Blanc instead of vermouth and really bitter dark chocolate shavings as I did not have bitters. I did adjust the portions a bit. It tasted great.

What a great cocktail. Did find it a bit sweet for us. We did not do the rim to keep the sweetness down, but did dust the top of the drink with cocoa powder. May do this again, but might add a few drops of chocolate bitters to lessen the sweetness.

Before I finished my cocktail, I did put 2 drops of chocolate bitters. It did lessen the sweetness, but it enhanced the chocolate flavour.

Did the gin version with Bombay Sapphire and it was most excellent! I was a bit lazy and didn't rim the glass, but the cocktail was still delightful!

So delightful. Guess what I did. Used hot cocoa mix around the rim, a supposedly buttered toffee flavored hot cocoa that included dried milk. In other words, whatever you have around the house for your kids or parents, it is fair game. I have a peppermint cocoa mix I can’t wait to try this on. Indulgent and perfect dessert option. Shamelessly enjoy and have a dry martini tomorrow.

I do like a Luxardo Maraschino cherry - why not.

Would replacing the vodka here with gin still work well here, or would that alter the taste completely?

Many thanks for the suggestion. Just tried and I prefer with gin so I've added this variation to the recipe above.
