Really lovely balance...subtle and elegant. We agree with other commenters that some added bitters can lift things: orange bitters if one wants to keep it light and airy, black walnut or chocolate bitters if one wants to make it a bit deeper and darker...just a few drops though, don't get carried away.
This is an outstanding aperitif. It is a great mélange of flavours: herbal, vegetal, and sweet. Found it did soften in flavour as the cocktail sits and warms. This is one which is good cold, but better when it is cool.
umm. not bad. i guess if you were in the mood for Jäegermeister, but want a different flair to it, this would be good suit. the gin and Vermouth smooth out the meister to a nice long flavorful drink.
All I have is Antica Torino. Would probably prefer Cinzano Rosso, in order to widen the flavor spectrum. The Antica, however, did prove to be a nice compliment to the Jager. (21 Feb 2022, 12:58p)
For my taste this comes in spice on spice on spice, as in peppery spice of juniper from the gin, herabal/anise spice from the Jaegermeister and cinammon/clove notes of the vermut, and needs just a bit more to counter all of that. I think I prefer this with a twist of orange (expressed) and 2 dashes of orange bitters. It's still a pretty nice drink, though.
