I accidentally swapped the rye and bourbon and I honestly think that's even better. The rye spice marries with the liqueurs in a beautiful way without ever getting lost.
This was delicious. Definitely bourbon-forward, but not super boozy. Not overly creamy, either. Everything else kind of blends together into a subtle flavorful blend that enhances the creamy bourbon with maybe the bitters being the most noticeable ingredient, but still subtly so . Made with a 50/50 mix of Wild Turkey 101 & 81 bourbon, Wild Turkey 101 Rye, Licor 43, Liber & Co Almond Orgeat, Disaronno, & Bittermens Xocolatl Mole bitters.
Absolutely brilliant. Bright flavors with an ample "kick", and a creamy texture. It's definitely a special-occasion cocktail, but I'll have to indulge myself a little more often than that!
One of the more interesting, sensory-evolving cocktails I've tried in awhile. Made just one, but I'm eager to try this again... Immediately wanted to tweak the specs until I let it pass over my palate a few times and mindfully observed the flavor changes. Used a bottled-in-bond bourbon in addition to a similar rye. Would prefer to have used a more quality amaretto... All of the drink's core components stand out. Really not necessary to adjust measurements. Kind of impressed. (22 Jan 2023, 2:07p)
