I made this as-written first time and it’s a solid cocktail. Nothing special but solid. Next time I used my own homemade orange liqueur and a bit of Italicus in place of the simple. Very good.

Since we like a more dry cocktail, I upped the Grand Marnier and omitted the sugar syrup. Still very well balanced with an orange sweet and sour hint.

We much prefer Embury's version...it's supposed to be opulent. Have some Lindt sea salt dark chocolate on hand as well.

Another virtue of Mr Embury's version is that you can up all ingredients by one-third and still squeeze it into a coupe glass.

A strong orange taste, but one clearly feel the rum and the citrus. Not too sweet. Rated 4,5/5 : excellent.

This is definitely one of the best orange flavored drinks. Personally, I found it to be best slightly chilled.

We enjoyed it, used Havana as I change from Baccardi to Havana from one cocktail to the next otherwise one bottle would always be empty lol

A fairly light, refreshing cocktail with a slight hint of orange from the Grand Marnier. A good summer cocktail.

At least with Bacardi Carta Blanca quite flat. A bit more Grand Marnier does not help.

What a great rum cocktail. Subtle and refreshing while being very sophisticated. Makes me feel like I am back in the 1930s drinking at The Dorchester or Park Lane.
