I was confused about all the sugar syrup comments. I thought it was quite nice without it. Wife thought it had a weird taste but might be the old bottle of Maraska Apricot.
I really wanted to like this one because I love Pisco; however, it had a "medicinal" taste to it, like a Vit C supplement. I used fresh squeezed orange juice but the taste was "off". Reminded me of the Quarantini, which has a Vit C rim.
I made this with blood orange juice, which kinda took away the sweetness. If you had to give this a different name because of a different juice used, maybe stay away from anything bloody in the name? Algerian Sunset perhaps?
Great afternoon or evening cocktail. The orange and pisco go wonderfully together. The hint of apricot puts it over the top. As our oranges are local and tree ripened, they are fairly sweet so we omitted the sugar syrup. Was perfect for us. If you like a sweeter cocktail, add the sugar syrup.

I would describe this as sweet. The apricot comes through quite strong. Noticeably more apricot than orange, despite the fresh orange juice. If I were to make it again, I'd leave out the syrup.
