Glass:

Serve in a Martini glass

Ingredients:
16 oz Fernet Branca liqueur
24 dried Raisins
2 oz Cognac (brandy)
16 oz Galliano Espresso Coffee liqueur
14 oz Maple syrup
1 oz Chilled water reduce if wet ice
× 1 1 serving

Prepare:

  1. Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. Prepare garnish of coffee beans.

How to make:

  1. RINSE glass with fernet (swirl around to coat and discard excess) and set to one side.
  2. MUDDLE raisins with brandy/cognac in base of shaker.
  3. Add other ingredients and SHAKE with ice.
  4. FINE STRAIN into fernet-rinsed glass.

Garnish:

  1. Garnish with 3 coffee beans floated on surface.

Review:

Rich, pungent and not too sweet.

Sweet, but less sweet than I was expecting with the maple syrup and raisins. Also surprised how it does not feel watered down at all with so much added water. Dark fruit and brown sugar with the maple and fernet peeking through.

Is the Fernet just to rinse the glass, as the method describes? 30ml seems like a lot for that...

Agreed. I've cut back to a mere bar spoons worth. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Literally, 20 years since I last made this. I'll revisit and also update the photo.
