We do like a pun, especially a tasty pun. Sweet and sour cherry fortified with gin notes and subtle freshening crème de menthe and delicate chocolate.

History:

We're indebted to Gareth "G" Franklin of Luxardo fame for bringing this brilliantly named recipe, adapted from a drink originally created in 2018 by Filip Palkiewicz at Mercy Brown, Kraków, Poland, to our attention. Naturally, G uses Luxardo's excellent Sangue Morlacco cherry liqueur when he makes this drink.

Retired with more exact ingredients, including Giffard Creme de menthe and Sangue Morlacco. Surprisingly subtle and very well balanced. Mint cherry chocolate - yum! I can easily see this being a dinner party crowd pleaser.

In my rush to try this I used a clear triple sec instead of creme de menthe in error. Actually it worked very nicely and readers who are not too keen on mint may wish to try this as a variant.

After dinner mints on acid. I’m not sure minttu works with this, but it’s what I had. Pretty much as described. Sangue Morlacco definitely worked better than cherry Heering, which I guess shouldn’t be surprising. Had to cut the lemon by half due to current crop. Overall very tasty, tangy and richly dessert-like.

I found that a fresh mint leaf or two balanced atop a large ice cube looked very pretty, and the whole sprig was too overpowering for me.

A lot drier than expected, given it does have 2/3oz of very sweet liqueurs. Not too sure about mint and cherry together but overall a tasty drink.
