Review

Depending on your grapefruit this drink may indeed be lightly pink, and, again, depending on your grapefruit, hopefully it will be balanced and superbly refreshing.

Strega forward. I loved this drink, but did not add any ice after shaking and staring as dilute enough already with the grapefruit juice. Lovely late afternoon / early evening drink before the grown up drinks.

Straining rather than staring.

I also tried a variant with grapefruit soda instead of the grapefruit juice. Delicious!

Excellent drink. I love the simplicity and the moderate level of alcohol makes it possible to sip through two or three of these on a warm afternoon without falling over.

We think this recipe is too timid and we like to taste the booze in our adult drinks. So we go 40ml each for the gin and Strega and 60ml for the juice (which roughly keeps the aggregate volume the same). If that's too boozy for your taste, maybe try a 1:1:2 ratio, but you might want to up the volumes proportionally to maintain, roughly, the aggregate volume; say 35ml each of gin and Strega and 70ml juice. Anyway, it's a wonderful summer sip.
