Review:
Rich jammy raspberry brilliantly balances sour lime with gin and vermouth sitting alongside each other as deliciously as ever.
History:
Adapted from a recipe in Jacob Abraham Grohusko's 1933 Jack's Bar Manual 5th Edition:
"CAMEO KIRBY COCKTAIL
50% dry gin
50% dry vermouth
2 teaspoons raspberry syrup
Juice of half a lime
Shake."
This exhumed classic was recommended to us by Jason E. Clapham who told us that the cocktail is eponymously named after a 1923 silent movie directed by John Ford based on a 1908 play by Booth Tarkington and Harry Leon Wilson.
