I had the mentioned problem and added some agave and some drops saline solution which normally lifts the fruit taste. It remained a nice cocktail but in my opinion the mango taste recedes too much. Maybe more mango and less lime could solve this.

Even living in Southern California, I am not a big fan of mangoes. Made this cocktail as we were given an organic mango. The cocktail is OK. Did use a little less lime and the agave syrup that Miguel Perales recommended. It was nice. Paired perfectly with the homemade enchiladas we had for dinner, but would not be my favourites in the Margarita group.

Agree with other comments that the lime is a bit overpowering. A touch of agave syrup redresses the balance.

I will have to jump on the bandwagon to say that something is just "off" on this drink. First time I made it as posted and I agree, lime juice overpowers. Second time I just cut back on the lime juice to 1/3 oz.....getting there. Third time (all in the name of science) I switched to Don Julio reposado instead of El Jimador reposado, used 1/3 oz lime juice and added 1/6 oz agave nectar and it is much, much better. A more balanced drink.

Nice combination, but maybe my mango wasn’t sweet enough. The lime overpowered the mango, leaving it a little on the sour side for a margarita. A little agave syrup took the edge off and balanced out the whole thing for me.

Exact same problem I just had. Completely sour, the sweetness of the mango and the triple sec completely disappeared in a weird alcohol and sour taste. Very weird
