I can’t quite figure out what I think about this very bizarre but not unpleasant cocktail. I like it?

This is my new favorite cocktail. I’ve introduced to my set of friends and they agree: it’s a winner.

Definitely an interesting cocktail. I wanted to try something different and my partner and I both agree - 3 fl oz of bitters is definitely different! It’s worth a try!

I switched the amount of rye (1 1/2 oz) and angostura bitters (1/2 oz). It was mighty fine

Your proportions are indeed more in line with what one would anticipate. Even then, that's a load of bitters.

I make the same drink substituting Angostura with Riga Black Balsam (Rīgas Melnais balzams, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riga_Black_Balsam)
Works pretty well. For some reason it tastes like cherry flavor.

Ok I was skeptical, but the drink is quite good. With Holiday notes of cinnamon and clove.

I learned how to make this from Sam, at Beach Bum Berry's in New Orleans. I have strange tastes, but I quite liked it. I make one at home once or twice a year.
