The impression this makes will vary enormously depending on the tequila used. With tequila Ocho it was sublime, with Sauza "Hornitos" it was good but not exciting. I recommend Dolin Blanc, as I don't think tequila stands up to the funkier Italian biancos. It's the same story with gin martinis.
Loved this - I made it with Boker's Bitters in the absence of Margarita Bitters, which worked just finr. A word of warning - strain it into an ice-filled standard coupe as advised and it wont fit! I just slurped and topped it up - all good.
Hi Lee. I'm not aware of my making a recent addition, certainly not in the last few months, so one you may have missed. Hopefully, you have the ingredients to hand and find it worthy of the rating.
This was an outstanding aperitif. While I usually like reposado, this needed the clean, light agave flavour of blanco The cocktail is enhanced with the margarita bitters. Perfect. Going into my favourites.
When I first started mixing at home, I tried a tequila martini recipe from the 70s, that used regular extra dry vermouth. It was just OK. This is exceptional. The Bianco vermouth combines with tequila in a much more complex way. Sadly I didn't have any margarita bitters, and had to make do with orange.
