We live just down the road from Ranch de Chimayo so I want to get this right. Patron Silver is great but silver tequila is very agave-driven while this drink calls for more refinement. Used 1.5 oz El Tesoro Anejo and added 1/2 oz Santa Fe Spirits Apple Brandy to tie things together. Local raw, unfiltered apple juice or cider is important, and a wee bit more lemon juice helps cut the sweetness, too. Very good and distinctive!

Reasonable if for me you up the Cassis to 20ml and lemon to 10ml. I like how the Tequila adds to the flavour rather than just being there.

For me the spiciness of the tequila came through without any burn. Added to my holiday repertoire.

Very festive drink. Really well balanced. I thoroughly enjoyed it and made it again.

Tequila is definitely on the nose and upfront but then the apple and cassis come in. I was fortunate to get fresh, unsweetened apple cider which made it nicely balanced.

I’ve read the comments and I think the key to this one is good quality apple juice. I made mine fresh and it was absolutely delicious. It would be flat and sweet with standard carton apple juice.

Mine was much redder than the associated picture, but was otherwise brilliant. The Cassis sugars brought forward the flavour of the tequila whilst quelled the alcohol burn and made this extremely pleasant to quaff down.
