I made it in a hot summer night. Served it on a rocks glass with a large piece of ice, so I shook it a little. I used aquafaba too because, why not? Liked it.
A charming and pleasing cocktail from a more innocent era. A modern equivalent would probably double the booze, if not more! Today one would almost consider this a breakfast/brunch cocktail.
Very interesting! I think you need to be precise in your measurements to avoid any single ingredient being too overpowering. Made it with Beefeater, but seems like a good one to try different gins with. Possibly different vermouths, too.
Lovely and refreshing without being simple. I used blood orange juice and the resulting colour was stunning. I plan to make this throughout the blood orange season here in California.
Well-balanced - all the cast get a moment on stage!
We have all these ingredients in stock, so this could be a regular.
Maybe with a splash of Campari??
I like the idea of Campari or something similar. Since I'm making mine with blood oranges, I might try a dash of Cappeletti, which has blood orange aromas, next time.
As it's Blood Orange season I'm working my way through the OJ cocktails that I possess the other ingredients for and renaming them accordingly. This has become Dracula's Whiskers obvs...
I'm falling in love with this drink. Much more subtle than the name suggests. The evolution is long and surprising. Made this now with Beefeater and I want to try it both with Roku Gun (yuzu, citrus forward) and Hayman's Old Tom to see how the drink reacts. It's that interesting. Highly recommended.
