I agree with the others. I would reduce lemon juice and syrup. Portion doesn't seem right. 1/3 of the drink is lemon juice.

That gin and basil go together is something we've known for a long time, but basil and blackberries? Yup, they really do! The blackberries actually go and elevate what could be considered as "off flavours" in regular basil smashes (like chlorophyll) and integrates it with the body of the cocktail. Certainly a good choice when you can't decide between the Bramble or a Basil Smash, that's for sure!

Refreshing. The basil and creme de mure add some subtle complexity. Seems like a good option to be added to the list of "Summer" drinks here on DG.

Thanks, Peter. I've tagged as a summer cocktail.

A sort of cross between a Bramble and a Basil Smash. I think I prefer either a Bramble or the Basil Smash but not both together.

Maybe we have especially sour lemons, but I would cut the lemon at least ⅓.

Great flavours but extremely sweet as written. I cut the syrup in half and reduced the lemon a little to compensate and it was lovely.

Instead of simple syrup, I used half maple syrup and half elderflower syrup, for more complexity on the sweet side. This drink can also serve as base for a longer drink like a cooler, with added soda water.

we really liked this, quite refreshing taste, how ever i would strongly recommend making your own sugar syrup, so as you can control how much sugar is used
