A gin-based riff on the Hemingway Daiquiri with delicate bittersweetness influencing the sweet 'n' sour balance. Light and refreshing – perfect for summer
Refreshing and no complaints, but I probably won't make again. I tried this because I adore the Ruby and a simple gimlet (with just great craft gin or vodka, key lime, and a little simple syrup). It wasn't as ideal as either of those two beautiful drinks, but it was still lovely. I didn't use syrup because I don't like things sweet, which delivered a great patio aperitif. I tried adding a tiny bit of elderflower liqueur in place of the syrup with the little left in the shaker, á la Ruby, which added only a hint of florality.
Very interesting. Next time I'll put a little more lime and a little more sugar sirup (maybe 2/3 oz and 1/2 oz respectively?), as the grapefruit was maybe too present to my taste. Rated 4,5/5.
