Great cocktail. We used Jamaican black rum and Luxardo Aperitivo and Luxardo Amaro Albano. Works perfectly together. The funk from the rum mixes well with the Amaro. Lemon takes away the bitter edge. Great as an aperitivo.
Wish I would've read the comments first! Not terrible with the lemon as is,
but when I make it again, I'll cut the lemon as you suggest to let the other ingredients come through a bit more.
A bit sour- maybe I put too much lemon juice? Felt like it needed a teaspoon of sugar syrup. I used Lazzaroni Amaro & Ratu Fijian rum.

Great cocktail. If I hadn't made it myself, I would have been hard pressed to identify its ingredients, which play well together. With apologies to Emily Gosling, I used Ron del Barrilito instead of Gosling's. While I used Amaro Montenegro and Apertivo Rosato Ramazzoti, I see that some substitute Amaro Nonino and/or Aperol. First time I'm trying a dark rum-amaro cocktail. Since this one is so good, I'm betting there are others out there waiting to be tried.
